Custom Tasks on the fly

I don’t have a Task for this in the Price Book!

We all work hard to try and cover all the bases when we design our flat rate Price Guide and no matter what there will always be the task that just doesn’t fit as the others or it would take to much time to try and find the best substitute task.

In this video I demonstrate how using FlatRate Pro™ on the iPad, iPhone or even on the computer you can create a custom task on the spot that utilizes your company pricing for labor and your standard mark-up for materials.

Also demonstrated is a simple entry that can be your flat rate price as well that may be appropriate for some shops that pay on straight commission and don’t care to track their billable hours. Use what works best for you.

Parts Packages and Task Drill Down

Drill down into that Task and what do you find?

A client the other day asked how are you able to access printable Item Assemblies also known as Parts Packages. We showed a video a while back showing how to create Item assemblies. They are a key part of larger jobs or installations where you start with the same basic package of parts.

This can be very efficient for the warehouse, technicians and installers as well. When the job is pulled from the warehouse you can just pull the bin that was pre-loaded before hand for the standard parts package, load the piece of equipment and they are off to the job. They also know exactly what parts they started with so this make inventory tracking easier as well.

See in this video how we can drill down into our TASK Items Report to view the TASK Detail, ITEM Detail, and Item Assemblies on a given task. The printable Item Assemblies look good and can be placed into your printed flat rate Price Guide. Ever since the 2012 release you have always been able to view the Item Assemblies with iPad and iPhone. It is effortlessly smooth and fun!

Wow! iPad’s Graphical Display for Flat Rate Tasks

New visual task presentation on iPad

Not long ago someone wrote in and asked how far in the future will it be possible to show our tasks in a very visual graphic way. To convey in pictures what is included in a task at the point of sale. They sent me an example of their dream of what flat rate could look like on the iPad.

I started to write that something close to their idea could be done...and it would be a bit of work...etc.. Then I went into FileMaker and started to play around with the layouts for the TASK Detail. Before the end of that very night I had created the basic of our new iPad_TASK Visual layout.

You can select in preferences where you want to go from the Task List or Price Guide views. Choose to just go straight to a visual list of parts or choose the one of two different TASK Visual layouts, one with your logo and other graphic or one without any logos.

In the video above I demonstrate one of these new TASK Visual layouts.
